                   Situated at the mouth of the Newport Harbor, Fort Adams State Park offers an exceptional panoramic view of both Newport Harbor and the East Passage of Narragansett Bay. The park offers a wide range of activities including salt water bathing, fishing, boating, soccer, rugby, and picnicking. Fort Adams is perhaps best known for its annual summer concerts when the JVC Jazz Festival-Newport, and the Apple & Eve Newport Folk Festival draw thousands to enjoy the music and beautiful surroundings.

Directions from Providence: Take Interstate Rte. 95 South,
to Rte. 4 South, to Rte.138 to Jamestown. Continue on 138 to the Newport Bridge immediately after bridge take Downtown exit and follow signs to Fort Adams State Park. (Newport Bridge toll: Token or $2.00 each way).
 
Current Fees: No entrance fee

As of July 1, 1998 there will no longer be entrance fees charged at Rhode Island State Parks, although parking fees will still be in effect at the Rhode Island State Beaches. All fees for Picnics and other Park Use still apply. Call the Park Permit Office for further information.

Soccer and Rugby Field Rentals:  For Ages 17 and over - $25.00 per 2 hours. For youth under 17 - $35.00 for a 10 game maximum [ $5.00 additional/ game]

Alofsin Activities Center Rental: Entire Building [includes coin operated showers].

Overnight Parking: [cars only- no camping, no RV's] 

Residents - $3.00 per night            Non-Residents - $6.00 per night

Season Parking Permits:

Residents - $35.00 per year           Non -Residents - $70.00 per year

Reservations:  Accepted beginning January 1st by phone or mail.

Operational Times:  Park is open year round from sunrise to sunset.

Fort Adams Trust: A non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of the Fort. Its volunteers and staff conduct tours of the Fort from June through October. For more information call: [401] 841-0707.
 
Sail Newport: A non-profit community sailing facility offering the public: sailboat instructions and rental, windsurfing instruction and rental, drysail storage areas and hoist operation. Displays centered around "Yachting in Newport - The Golden Age". A show of photographs, models, costumes, boats and yachting memorabilia from the turn of the century. Open daily from the second week of May to November 1st. Other months by appointment. For information call: (401) 847-1018.
