Celebrating 100 Years! 1909-2009
On President Abraham Lincoln’s 100th birthday, February 12, 1909 the Metropolitan Park
Commission of Rhode Island authorized the purchase of Rhode Island’s first state park- Lincoln Woods. In 100 years since, Rhode Island State Parks have evolved from a visionary plan to a statewide network of historic and magnificent greenspaces
and greenways devoted to the public enjoyment of the

Campground Reservation System-
The Department of
Environmental Management is pleased to announce ReserveAmerica will be
providing our reservation system for all five Rhode Island
State Campgrounds. Reservations will be available online,
through the call center and through our
existing system of walk-in camping. To make a
reservation through the ReserveAmerica call center please
call 1-877-RICAMP5 (you must include the
1-877 to reach the call center) and to
make reservations online

Rhode Island Great
Outdoors Pursuit-
This years Great Outdoors Pursuit was a blast for all our teams and staff.

The Pursuit is a twelve-week contest that enables teams to decode clues, discover state parks and join in fun activities and challenges - all for a chance to win prizes. Pets in Campgrounds-
RI DEM is
pleased to allow you the privilege of bringing your domestic
pet (limited to cats and dogs only) to overnight
campgrounds in Rhode Island’s state parks and management
areas. It is up to you, the pet owner, to act responsibly
with your pet and to be courteous of other park and
management area users to help ensure this privilege is
always extended. Be nice to your pet, your parks and other
park visitors. Your cooperation is appreciated.
